Abstract
This research focused on some soil samples in Jiang Su province, China. We have got the total ion content including Cu, Pb, Zn, Hg, As and Cd chemical components of these samples. At the same time, soil reflectance spectra in the visible-near infrared region (VNIR) were measured in the laboratory. A multivariate calibration procedure using partial least squares (PLS) regression was applied to establish a relationship between reflectance spectra in the visible-near infrared region and the chemical components. Results showed that hyperspectral remote sensing has the potential to the survey of metal concentrations in soils
