Abstract :
This paper presents an outdoor propagation model that is specialized in the urban cities on irregular terrain and applies to macrocellular service such as DTTB(Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting). Unlike the other macrocell models that were adapted to the urban cities on flat or smooth terrain this model predicts the receiving power in irregular urban terrain theoretically and automatically considering the effect of diffraction by hills and buildings. In addition to the theoretical model, this paper also proposes the simple empirical correction method to consider the excess loss for the minute structures near the receiver. The presented model using hybrid theoretical empirical method is tested around Seoul at 320MHz. The results show good agreement with measurements.
