Abstract
This paper presents an algorithm for performance optimization of the modified p-persistent CSMA/CD local area network proposed by Slew et. al. (1990). The basic idea is to maximize the throughput of the network varying the dynamic probability of transmission every station. The principle of operation of the algorithm is described. A method for choosing the step size is proposed. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the approach.<>
