Abstract :
The ATM switch, which is the most promising approach for the new switching technology in B ISDN, can be grouped into two major types: blocking and nonblocking switches. Even in nonblocking switches, it is still possible for the output collision to occur. To avoid cell loss due to collision, it is necessary to use buffers. Three buffering strategies for ATM switches are described in the paper. Their performances are discussed.<>
