Abstract
Cellular digital packet data (CDPD) is a mobile data technology that permits subordinate packet data operation on the spectrum assigned to existing telephone cellular networks. We study and evaluate by means of computer simulations the performance at the medium access control (MAC) layer with different types of receiver structures over Rayleigh fading channels. We demonstrate how the throughput is affected by the frame structure parameters at the MAC layer. Finally, we propose a new technique to get around the reported performance degradation. Simulation results show that considerable throughput improvement is achieved in certain circumstances
