Abstract
Due to high mobility, highly dynamic topology and unreliable communication medium, performing video multicast over a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a challenging task. In this paper, a robust multiple tree multicast routing (RMTMR) protocol for MANETs is proposed to ensure robust and efficient video multicast against high node mobility. RMTMR employ a practical stochastic upstream nodes assignment process based upon mobility-prediction to build multiple trees performing delivery of coded video packets encoded by network coding. Moreover, by applying such approach, both of mobility-aware video multicast and latency-aware one can be achieved. Extensive simulation results shows that such protocol perform well in terms of quality, normalized packet forwarding efficiency and startup delay even in the high speed scenario.
