Abstract
Much of the forensic evidence recovered at a crime scene is represented visually (finger prints; foot marks etc.). Such recovered scene marks are often poor quality, so that standard image processing packages and algorithms are ineffectual. Instead, forensic scene marks must be carefully interpreted by skilled forensic examiners. This paper presents a framework for the application of image analysis methods to assist expert reporting officers.
