Are you feeling safe yet?-advances in security screening technology

Airline travel is becoming increasingly popular in the US and Europe supported by the rise in low-cost airlines. However, as passenger numbers increase, so has the threat from terrorist organisations. New passenger screening technologies need to be developed alongside existing systems to increase screening effectiveness and decrease screening time. This paper reviews the current technologies used for passenger screening and new technologies that are being developed and trialed at UK ports and airports.
