Abstract
Medical environments incorporate complex and integrated data networks to transfer vast amounts of patient information, such as images, waveforms, and other digital data. To assure interoperability of images and waveforms, HL7 was developed as an international standard to facilitate the communication and storage of medical data. In this study, we developed middleware capable of receiving and converting data into HL7 conformant format from patient monitoring devices. This ubiquitous biomedical interface streamlines clinical workflow and supports patients. Therefore, quality of care will be greatly improved while helping to reduce length of stay.
