Abstract
The stepped-frequency waveform is able to obtain large effective bandwidth by sequentially changing the carrier frequency in steps over pulses. However, this waveform is very sensitive to the radial velocity between the radar and the target. In this paper, the effect of the radial velocity on the synthetic range profile is discussed first, and then the range spread in terms of the processed range bin is defined differently from others, which is validated by the simulation. Furthermore, the relation between the processed range bin and the range resolution is also discussed.
