Abstract :
LTD (Linear Transformer Driver) is a new technology developed recent years suitable of building compact high voltage short-pulse generator. RPD (Rod pinch diode) can provide very small diameter (even sub-millimeter) X-ray source for pulsed radiography. Combination of LTD and RPD would allow building compact FXR (Flash X-ray Radiography) generator with excellent performance. A conceptual design of a FXR generator was made based on LTD and RPD technology. New approach to modulate the pulse shape was introduced. The output voltage, impedance and FWHM are 2.5 MV, 45 Ω and 60 ns respectively.
