Abstract :
The paper presents results of a measurement campaign carried out to examine applicability of the Okumura-Hata (1968, 1980) model in our region in various VHF/UHF frequency bands (160, 450, 900 and 1800 MHz). It reveals that while providing fairly good approximation in the urban areas, the Okumura-Hata model gave significant errors in rural areas. Therefore paper describes an approach, which allows to one introduce necessary changes to the Okumura-Hata model through statistical analysis of the measurement results with application of the least squares method. While the Okumura-Hata model with introduced changes may be used as such in rural areas, the approach of model adaptation described in this paper may be useful for any similar fast tuning of the model in other specific conditions
