Abstract
Motivated by the fact that an important class of residuals for fault detection purposes are defined as the difference between the measured and estimated output of the system, and on a reduction of the redundancy excess provided by the original ´dedicated observer scheme´ (DOS), the analysis of a simplified design for the DOS is presented. The modified design of the DOS does not require observability of the whole system with respect to each output. Further, the robustness of the scheme is also examined and a simple test is established. An example is given to illustrate the scheme.
