Abstract :
Caravans and caravan parks are considered to be locations of increased electric shock risk because the conditions are arduous, persons may be minimally clothed or exposed to wetness, and persons outside caravans may be in contact directly with Earth. Requirements for installations of caravan and camping parks and similar locations are included in Section 708 of the Seventeenth Edition, and requirements for installations of caravans and motor caravans in Section 721. The requirements of Sections 708 and 721 differ in some important respects from the equivalent requirements in the Sixteenth Edition of the Wiring Regulations, given in Section 608 of that publication. Electrical installations of bathrooms and shower rooms of caravans and motor caravan are also subject to the relevant requirements of Section 701 of the Seventeenth Edition Where the electricity supply to a caravan site is taken from a PME (Protective Multiple Earthing) network, particular requirements of the Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002 (as amended) have to be met.
