Abstract [new section 711 of BS 7671 on Exhibitions, Shows and Stands]

Summary form only given, as follows. A new section to BS 7671 is 711 - Exhibitions, Shows and Stands. The Section includes requirements for temporary electrical installations for the purpose of displaying and/or selling products. The event can take place in any suitable location, either a room, building or temporary structure and such installations may be installed indoors or outdoors, within permanent or temporary structures. The particular risks associated with Exhibitions, Shows and Stands are: 1. the temporary nature of the installation 2. the lack of permanent structures 3. severe mechanical stresses placed on the electrical equipment 4. access to the general public.
