Abstract :
Because of the difficulty of the direct measurements of the output voltage or current, a feasible approach is proposed to estimate the output parameters of the high-power pulse generator, which is based on the numerical calculation and the radiating measurement. The near-fields radiated from the biconical antenna are measured firstly, which is just excited by the pulser. Then the source functions are modeled according to the magnetic-field testing data. Finally the electromagnetic field is computed by the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method and compared with the testing results to validate the accuracy and reliability of the approach. The complete procedure is illustrated by the estimation of the rise-time of the output pulse.
