Abstract
Due to the strict time constraints, the real-time services for multimedia applications in wireless networks are difficult to deal with as a packet scheduler schedules the related packets. The system performance of a base station (BS) mainly also depends on the packet scheduler policy. So far as our knowledge, the relatively existing packet scheduler schemes arrange the packets based on the corresponding delay time requirements for improving throughput or reducing dropping rate, not focus on deliberating how to reduce the delay time of packets efficiently as an important purpose. From this perspective, we have proposed our downlink delay-minimized scheduling (DDMS) algorithm for reducing the corresponding delay time for mobile stations (MSs) as our main contribution plus improves system throughput of the BS. Simulation results reveal that our DDMS algorithm outperformed in the reducing delay time, throughput and dropping rate by comparing with the other real-time polling service schemes.
