Abstract
A 2/sup m//spl times/2/sup m/ standard Hadamard matrix can be written as the mth power of one matrix. Based on this principle, the paper presents a digital system to carry out the fast Hadamard transform (FHT), which is composed of one arithmetic unit, four random-access memories, two address generators, /spl pi//sub 1/, and /spl pi//sub 2/, and a control unit. Experiments show that the hardware system can finish the FHT within 20 ms for a picture of 4095 elements.<>
