Abstract
The authors describe a flexible approach to high-speed digital FIR (finite impulse response) filters which are electrically programmable by users. The internal system structure and the strategies chosen to minimize complexity and maximize speed are explained in some detail. The proposed filter has been realized in a 1.5- mu m HCMOS process. It is noted that, although the proposed filter has many applications in the general domain of real-time digital signal processing, it is of specific interest in the domain of video signal processing.<>
