  • Abstract
The current Internet is designed for wired network, especially for LAN type of network As expanding a size of the network, it is going to absorb even public networks into it. However, people using the Internet on the move is facing a lot of inconvenience such as worse throughput performance of transport layer protocol, i.e. TCP, or inflexible network configuration for terminal migration, etc. These problems are more evident when multimedia broadband wireless system is being launched. This paper gives a solution of network and transport layers functionality for mobile computing users over the Internet. It includes a protocol conversion for TCP which improves data transmission performance and integrated mobility on IP which realizes a flexible network configuration in accordance with terminal migration and location ofdestination terminal with multicast support. Proposed new Internet functionality set for mobile user can generate more chances to introduce a multimedia type of services such as groupware using motion picture, voice, etc, and will increase for a demand of the broadband communication on the move.
