Abstract :
The performance of grid topology circuit switched networks using DAR (dynamic adaptive routing) or FR (flood routing) are compared in order to select an adequate routing protocol. The call setup time, which is the key measurement of performance evaluation in circuit switched networks, has been obtained based on estimated voice traffic. In the grid topology network, the common channel signaling method, is used to establish the path from the source to the destination. The performance of FR is better than that of DAR, under light traffic load. However, the performance of DAR is better than that of FR, under heavy traffic load or in a large network.<>
