Abstract
A model of architecture for cross-layer interactions is crucial to the design, analysis, and optimization of network protocols for wireless ad hoc networks. While a various number of research works have been conducted on different aspects of the cross-layer design, very little attention has been given to modeling the cross-layer design and standardizing the open architecture issues. This paper presents an in-depth analysis of information exchange, adaptation process, and delivery method for wireless ad hoc networks, and proposes a novel cross-layer conceptual architecture containing information manager and adaptation coordinate scheduler to satisfy the requirement of cross-layer interactions and adaptations.
