Abstract
Experimental characterisation of VCSELs is presented from the point of view of applications in commercial microwave systems. Problems of tuneability, linearity, microwave impedance are discussed. Preliminary expriments and industrial relevance of optical heterodyne generation of microwave signals are also discussed.
