  • Abstract
The analysis of modern phased array radars is driven by the complexity of their system requirements and operational modes: Multiple functions, a variety of waveforms and flexible scheduling; scenarios with multiple targets, target types and interference sources; netting and workload sharing in radar and other sensor systems; and performance measures that depend on interactions with weapons or other system elements. The RADICAL (radar-interceptor coverage and loading) simulation was developed to address these radar analysis needs. It provides a time-stepped, functional model of the operation of a network of radars and their interactions with other sensors, a target complex and defensive weapons. RADICAL has been used for: radar sizing to meet system requirements; radar siting analysis; development and validation of radar operating modes; and radar system performance evaluation
