Abstract
This paper serves as a case study based on what was done at the Monarch Cement plant in Humboldt, Kansas, where a new finish mill was installed and the two preheater kilns upgraded to precalciner kilns with state-of-the-art process technology. This paper is divided into four main sections: History and overview of the Monarch Cement Company; Review of the old power distribution system and anticipated demand; Review of the power distribution system changeover; summary and conclusion.
