Abstract :
Virtualization technology is proven to be a promising way to facilitate configurable and usable HPC environments for large-scale scientific and industrial applications. This paper focuses on enhancing the flexibility and reliability of virtual infrastructures (VI). With the rapid development of virtualization technology and the prevalence of virtual HPC platforms, it is of great significance to extend such systems to multi-LAN networks. We present a live-migration-enabled VI (LimeVI) to support dynamical management of multi-LAN virtual platforms. Firstly, a hybrid virtual network is presented to maintain the communication relationships among VMs. Virtual routing system manages multiple isolated virtual clusters within one VI and supports updating routing information for VM migrations dynamically in runtime. Secondly, a novel Adaptive Caching Protocol (ACP) is designed to solve the problem of packages loss during migration downtime. Finally, experimental results illustrate that the ACP works feasible and LimeVI is reliable.
