Abstract :
Electrically small antennas have a theoretical limit to the maximum bandwidth-efficiency product that can be achieved, as derived by Wheeler and Chu. This can be overcome using non-Foster matching (active matching), as is shown in this paper for an electrically small loop antenna. A floating negative inductor was simulated and the full matching network simulation demonstrates that the bandwidth of the small antenna increases to 2.9 times the Wheeler-Chu limit.
