Abstract
Urban construction and development are important symbols of social progress. The process of urbanization is one of the most important factors affecting urban construction and development. Therefore, monitoring and evaluating of urban expansion seems extremely important. In this paper, we use Zhifu District in Yantai City, Shandong Province as the research area, collecting remote sensing images and statistical data in 2000, 2004, 2007 these three years. Urban expansion of the research area which we qualitative analysis based on urban expansion changes monitoring and evaluating index system, quantitative analysis using remote sensing survey methods as well as GIS Techniques, proposing the preliminary framework of urban expansion land-use changes monitoring and evaluating index system based on Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS). Through this research, technical support for Urban Land-Use Planning establishment and implementation effect evaluation is expected.
