Abstract
A new technique for the reconstruction of radially dependent permittivity profiles in cylindrical objects, which is based on a Hankel transform of measured frequency dependent reflection data is presented. The technique goes parallel to the well established Riccati-differential-equation method used for reconstructing one dimensional planar profiles. It makes use of a recently suggested renormalization technique to separate the nonlinearity characterizing inverse problems and hence is not depending on a Born approximation. A unique solution of the problem can then be obtained, which makes the presented technique advantageous compared to all other methods reported in the literature. Reconstructed profiles have been compared to original ones for a number of cases. An excellent agreement has been achieved.
