Abstract :
A novel heptagonal rat-race hybrid coupler (RRHC) working at the fundamental frequency of 0.9GHz is proposed here, which can realize both miniaturization and harmonic suppression. The novel RRHC based on T-shaped structure on top and spiral defected ground structure (DGS) at the bottom occupies only 31.3% area of a conventional RRHC. The measurement result of the fabricated RRHC shows good agreement with the simulation result and the spurious response is suppressed below 20 dB up to the fourth harmonic.
