Abstract
This work investigate the fundamental field phenomena of an infinite, phased array of antennas, whose elements were excited with Gaussian weightings and phased to focus their radiations in the near zone. In particular, the wave phenomena in each of the Floquet modes, obtained by applying the Poisson sum formula to the array excitations, are investigated. This excitation of a Gaussian taper will produce a Gaussian beam at the fundamental mode. Both 1-D and 2-D cases will be examined and presented with their radiation characteristics.
