Abstract :
OFDM system is very sensitive against time synchronization error. In this research, we evaluate the performance of coarse timing synchronization in Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) communication system under multipath channel. We give performance evaluation of time synchronization by comparing the existing time synchronization algorithms. Here will be presented five algorithms that use preamble based to calculate the arrival time of OFDM symbol. Simulation is done by considering the level of Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and Carrier Frequency Offset (CFO) and Channel Impulse Response (CIR). Performance of the algorithm is measured by MSE (Mean Squared Error). From the simulation results, we found that Minn at al. method good at low level SNR, while for high SNR Ren at al. method is better.
