Abstract :
The task artifact cycle is a general model for reengineering and maintenance activities. It has been applied successfully in several projects of sd&m. The three lessons learned are discussed: 1. Every project has a reverse engineering component. 2. Reverse and forward engineering should never be separated in the project organization. 3. Do not neglect the sematic analysis of the legacy system
