Abstract :
A left-handed rectangular waveguide periodically filled with ferrite medium has been proposed, and the backward wave characteristics have been confirmed numerically using mode matching method. In addition, it is found that the field profiles have a sinusoid-like form composed of a series of exponentials in each region in the longitudinal direction. A full wave simulation is demonstrated with the help of finite element method, which provides the scattering parameters and supports the results of the mode analysis. Experiments were demonstrated to confirm the existence of pass bands in the cut-off frequency region by applying an appropriate dc magnetic field.
