Abstract :
In this paper, a novel structure of linearly decomposed decision feedback equalizer (DFE) is proposed, which is used in electronic dispersion compensation (EDC) for high bit-rate optical communications. It works at the transmitter and the receiver to combat ISI caused by the chromatic dispersion. Compared with the classical DFE, the system complexity of the new one has been reduced while it still keeps the high performance of DFE. A 10 Gb/s transmission system over 140 km SSMF at 10-4 bit error rate is demonstrated. Simulation results prove the validity of practicability.
