Abstract :
Internal Model Control is based on an approximate model of the process, leads to the design of a control system that is stable and robust. A robust control system is one that maintains satisfactory control in spite of changes in the dynamics of the process. For conventional PID control, tuning of controller parameters is a time consuming process and also depends upon an extensive knowledge of the specific process characteristics. The mathematical model of the system for pressure control is obtained using process reaction curve method in realtime. The proportional, integral and derivative gains for the pressure controller are obtained using Cohen-Coon method from the transfer function of the tank. The proposed of PID and IMC algorithm is embedded into the target ARM microcontroller and its performance is studied with realtime experimental setup. The experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
