Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to describe the implementation of a transmission line model, suitable for electromagnetic transient studies, in a real-time simulation environment with hardware-in-the-loop capabilities. The real-time transmission line model is the first step towards a comprehensive power systems simulation environment where fast electrical transient phenomena can be studied with accuracy and ease. This area is a matter of current interest to the electricity supply industry world-wide. Extensive verification against EMTP simulations and comparisons with field measurements are used to assess model correctness
