Abstract Oil-Painting Using Texture Synthesis

This paper introduces an improved algorithm based on Efros´ algorithm to create abstract oil painting by selectively copying patches of the source image onto the image to be stylized. Contrast to Efros algorithm, our algorithm provides better computing error optimization; another improvement is to change the direction of searching for a better performance. Experimental results show that our algorithm is faster and the abstract oil painting artistic quality of the resulting image is better.
