Abstract :
A dual-band metallic high-gain Febry-Perot cavity antenna is proposed in this paper. The dual-band performance is realized by the exciting of the Febry-Perot basic cavity mode and the high-order mode resonances simultaneously. The partially reflecting surface is a metal sheet with periodic circular slots and the totally reflecting ground is incorporated with periodic cylindrical posts to tune the ratio of the dual band frequencies. The whole antenna is made of metal material, and the lateral sides are also enclosed by metal walls to enhance the directivity. The proposed antenna can achieve high gain, high aperture efficiency, and high power-handling capability, which is rather attractive to satellite communications at Ku and Ka bands.
