  • Abstract
    This paper presents the possible naval application of new technologies such as high-speed network techniques. One of the most promising of these is the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) which offer numerous advantages compared with present network techniques. Ships presently have more and more needs in computer and internal communications. They could therefore benefit from the advantages offered by ATM. Two examples of application (communication backbone and sonar) show, for the particular example of a battleship, the interest and advantages of migrating toward modern networks
