Abstract
A structured model for systems to be controlled is proposed in this paper. The idea of the structured model is to describe the controlled systems with a set of units, which are connected in accordance with some structure. The units are multi-input-single-output models. The structure of the connected system model is constructed by the control action. The scale of the system as a whole is changeable, for the number of the units is changeable. The structure of the system is also variable, for the pattern of control action can be reorganized. So the boundary of the system as a whole is allowed to expand or shrink. The identification of the individual units is independent of other units. In this way, the local failure of the system can be easily isolated. The restrictions and the time-delays on the system are distributed in the related units. With this model, a structured prediction system is developed.
