Abstract :
This paper presents Croatian experiences with the submarine optical cable deployment. Submarine cable has been used as transmission media in national telecommunication network. Special emphasis is given to the review of the construction of submarine optical cables coastal protection. The method of drilling from the coast to the seabed and putting in polyethylene ducts and optical cables supports the basic goals of natural environment preservation, the coast and the undersea areas. Its implementation, with an adequate mechanical protection of submarine cables, provides reliable, safe and high-quality telecommunication connections.
