Abstract :
A constant demand for high-quality robust satellite-based positioning is driven by a growing number of technology and socio-economic applications of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Redesign of the existing and the introduction of new GNSS receiver architectures that facilitate the advantages of the latest communication and information technologies form a promising new approach in provision of accurate, reliable and robust GNSS-based positioning service. Here we present a new concept in GNSS receiver design, based on utilisation of software-defined radio (SDR), distributed system and cloud computing approaches, and discuss the enhancement in performance of GNSS position estimation achieved by utilisation of cloud-based GNSS SDR receiver architecture.
