Abstract :
There is a need to enhance internetworking over ATM networks. LAN technologies are connectionless while ATM is connection-oriented. Adaptation of connectionless service to ATM is provided by one of the ATM Adaptation Layers (AAL) on top of the ATM layer. However for reasons of delay and bandwidth, one can chose among two modes: streaming and messaging. It is widely understood that streaming performs better than messaging. This paper looks into how confident this statement is
