Abstract :
Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) is a promising technology to detect and identify buried Anti-Personnel (AP) non-metallic mines. This paper focusses on GPR signal processing and identification methods. The Wavelet Transform (WT) method is used to analyse impulsive GPR signals scattered by an AP plastic mines. The instantaneous parameters of the signals are calculated. In order to increase the amplitude or energy difference between the mine scattered/reflected signal and the clutter, a new non-linear transform method is implemented to process the results after Wavelet Transform. The validity of this method is verified through application to actual radar data. The properties of different instantaneous parameters are analysed and discussed. The proposed method was successfully tested on minimum metal AP mines.
