Abstract
Recently, new promising periodic structures called Photonic Crystals, or more generally Electromagnetic Crystal structures, have been considered for both microwave and photonic applications. Planar microstrip waveguides are very attractive in microwave engineering where several innovative designs have been proposed to expand the scope of application of the new Photonic Crystal concepts to the well established microwave domain. Recent configurations are presented for these new promising applications both in microwave and millimetre wave integrated circuits and antennas.
