Abstract :
This paper presents an intuitive yet accurate analysis of phase noise and phase accuracy in coupled multiphase LC oscillators. Starting from the Barkhausen conditions for the oscillation, it is possible to gain a deep insight of the noise-power and noise-accuracy trade-offs, as a function of the number of stages and of the coupling strength. Simple closed-form expressions for noise and phase accuracy are provided and verified against simulations.
