Abstract
Solid state laser systems are widely used nowadays in various scientific and technology areas. Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) is a perspective way to convert radiation of well developed lasers to new spectral regions. The ambient temperature can affect the Raman laser performance via change of the Raman gain and vibronic mode energy. In this report the results on spontaneous Raman spectroscopy of SRS-active vibronic modes in YVO4 and GdVO4 crystals in the 150-300 K temperature range are presented. The increase of crystal temperature resulted in reducing of the Raman mode frequency. The Raman frequency shift with temperature was found to be due to lattice expansion and lowering of crystal field influence on molecular ionic groups.
