Abstract
The University of Dundee´s Natural Environment Research Council funded satellite receiving station receives data from a number of geostationary satellites like METEOSAT and sun-synchronous (polar-orbiting) satellites like the NOAA series of satellites. High tracking accuracy is required to track the more modern polar-orbiting weather satellites. The purpose of this paper is to describe a technique to utilise existing facilities at The University of Dundee to improve and optimise the tracking accuracy of polar-orbiting satellites using an adapted version of a well-known optimising method.
