Abstract
This paper presents simulated responses of a millimeter-wave interferometric sensor to a walking human. The sensor measures the angular velocity of moving objects and can provide detection and measurement capability in cases when the radial velocity of an object is low. Coupled with a radar micro-Doppler measurement, the interferometric sensor allows the measurement of the signature of a moving human regardless of the trajectory. Simulated signatures from a 30 GHz sensor of a walking human are shown, and the responses due to the arms and legs are isolated. The signatures have similar characteristics to micro-Doppler signatures, and may provide a method of detection and classification of humans.
